Green Witchcraft utilizes the power found in the elements and in objects within
nature to create change. Ann Moura (Aoumiel) continues her introduction to the
Green Craft in this, the third volume of her Green Witchcraft series. Moura, a
solitary practitioner of Green Witchcraft, grew up with a heritage of folk magic
that was practiced within the framework of Catholicism. While she has moved on
from that framework to practice the basic Green level of witchcraft today, it is
this framework that allows her to teach the craft in a manner which is both
welcoming and adaptive to those ready to make a full commitment to the craft as
both a religion and a practice, those wishing to work with the natural elements
without looking to any deity, as well as those who wish to practice within the
framework of established religions.
Green Witchcraft is a core practice of the traditions of earth magics, the
Witchcraft of the Natural Witch, the Kitchen Witch, and the Cottage Witch. It is
herbal, attuned to nature, and the foundation upon which any Craft tradition may
be built. This book presents the Craft as a course of instruction, based on
classes taught by the author. It utilizes Green Witchcraft as a textbook.
Students will participate in assignments and practice activities as they learn
techniques for circle casting, altars, divination, and spell working. Sample
rituals and additional information is introduced to round out the student's
instruction.
The book is intended as a manual for
those seeking to study the Green Craft, and is divided into classes, each
corresponding to one of the 8 sabbats. Topics covered include an introduction to
the craft, circle casting, meditation, divinations, the Celtic Ogham, stones and
crystals, elixer preparations, statue consecration, divine couples, spell
creating and casting, herb crafts and candle magic. Each chapter contains a
review, an introduction to the topic, and an assignment to complete. A calendar,
glossary and bibliography is included. Brief appendixes give an outline of each
chapter.
This is a nice title for the beginner. References are made
to charts in the first two texts and so it would be helpful to have the series
in your collection, though this title stands well on its own.
